The Mission of Land of Enchantment Manufactured Home Owners Alliance (LEMHOA) is to preserve and expand access to affordable, safe, and resident-centered manufactured home communities by amplifying the voices and supporting the rights, ownership, sustainability, and dignity of all who call them home.
The vision of the organization is a future where manufactured home communities are thriving, affordable, empowered neighborhoods offering long-term stability, equity, and opportunities for generations to come.
LEMHOA recognizes that manufactured/mobile home communities provide a critical source of affordable housing and community living for people of all ages and abilities, many of whom are fixed-income and low-income New Mexicans.
LEMHOA recognizes the systemic inequities that community residents face. Residents have limited control over their circumstances despite owning their homes. Significant and frequent rent increases without justification or caps, inadequate legal protections, discrimination and stigma, substandard infrastructure and maintenance, the possibility of displacement, and the lack of public enforcement of existing laws, all put homeowners at risk.
The purpose of LEMHOA is to create a statewide alliance of homeowners, housing advocates, and allies dedicated to protecting the rights, dignity, and stability of residents in land-lease communities. We work to ensure secure affordable housing through advocacy, community organizing, and the promotion of resident ownership. We support and promote policies and legislation that protect manufactured site tenants and their investments.
